Defining
'founder friendly'
Today everybody calls themselves 'founder friendly', but many don't live up to that promise when it really matters. Unfortunately the result is that the words lack true meaning. We want to change this and make 'founder friendly' into a badge of honour to wear with pride.
We define 'founder friendly' as a set of principles to apply when working with founders.

Guiding principles
Pro founder control
With voting control founders can dedicate all energy to creating and minimise waste on power games.
Advocate founder control when reasonable. |
Speak up
It only takes a few bad actors to create a bad situation. Being silent is being complicit.
Before it's too late, speak up. |
Be a true friend
True friends care. They see your needs and help. Wether it be tough love or something nicer. Being a founder is hard and lonely, they need the support.
Make a difference, be a true friend. |
Follow a fair process
At times founders can be all else than angels and geniuses. If removing founder(s) from the company seems necessary, follow a fair process to assess if you are right.
